Earlier this year, Washington State employers began collecting Paid Family & Medical leave premiums from all employees as part of the newly enacted benefit plan. Subsequently, employers were to begin tracking hours and wages to report to the state as of April 2019.
However, just this week the state announced that the reporting timeline has changed and beginning July 1, employers will submit a combined Q1 and Q2 reports and premium payments through the online customer management system. Reporting must be submitted by July 31, 2019.
Although the reporting for Paid Family and Medical Leave is separate from Unemployment Insurance, and uses a different online tool, starting July 1, 2019, the reporting periods for both will follow calendar quarters and will be aligned going forward.
