Team of Employees

Retention – It’s not reasonable in this day and age to expect an employee to remain with the company for their entire career. However, when a manager hires an employee, there is a cost and investment made that should be considered. Employee engagement during the employee’s tenure is the responsibility of both manager and employee. A manager shouldn’t fear posing the question of “how are things going?” or “what’s next in your career?” to get an idea of where that individual stands in their career goals and whether the company can influence the individual’s decision to stay or go. Sometimes it’s simply asking the question that can offer a manager insights into whether an employee is looking elsewhere.
